I used to be a gymnast for over five years. I had done competitive gymnastics for all-around gymnastics. All-around gymnastics includes: Floor, Beam, Bars, and Vault. Now, I am a cheerleader and only work on my tumbling. Personally, I've never really liked floor or anything that needed flexibility. I have been tumbling for at least three years now. I have found that some gyms help me a lot, and that others just want me doing the same move over and over again.
I found that if you work on the splits everyday for at least 5 mins, you'll graduatly get better before you know it. It helps if you stretch at least 15-20 mins before you acually get started on any tumbling. Then you should warm up with simple cartwheels and round-offs before moving on to anything.
I can do a round-off with several backhandsprings. I can also do a round-off backtuck. I am now working on my round-off backhandspring tuck.
If you need help with anything or don't understand something that you are trying to learn then just leave a comment. Or even if you are a cheerleader trying to learn a simple move just tell me what you are working on and I can give some tips.
Wow! You seem like an expert at this, maybe i'll ask you some questions some time about it. Gymnastics seems like a great way to make friends.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a gymnist, but if I was going to become one, I'd talk to you about it because you seem to know what you're doing. It has always seemed like fun to be a gymnist, but I don't have the skill, coordination, and whatnot else it takes. All I can say is MAKE IT OR BREAK IT! (: I enjoyed reading what you wrote!
ReplyDeleteI learned my back layout now on the floor. I can start twisting next week!!! I cant wait. I almost died one of the times though haha good thing I had a spotter next to me, otherwise I would have landed flat on my face. :( BUT.....I'm alive and not even hurt ;)
